Distillation Column Developed for Cosmic Research

Polaris recently completed an exciting project with its subsidiary, Delta Costruzioni Meccaniche. We developed a distillation column focused on the process while Delta focused on the mechanical solutions and provided necessary construction features.

This particular plant produces an exceptionally pure solvent. It was constructed for a pool of international research institutes preparing an experiment on the makeup of the universe to discover matter structure. Part of the project focuses on the production of LinearAlkil Benzene (LAB) with a purity of 1x10E-15. That means that there is one particle of impurity per 1,000,000,000,000,000 of LAB particles!

LAB is a solvent that is used in the experiment as a tracer. When pure and stressed by matter structure particles, it releases a signal based on waves and photons. This signal allows for the discovery of new particles.

New ASU delivery

Following the path of continuous improvement Polaris has delivered, installed and successfully start-up an Air Separation Unit for the production of Nitrogen, Oxygen and Argon in the North of Italy. Unit is able to achieve up to 95% of Argon recovery with process advanced solution that will offer to customer important benefit on CapEx and OpEx side. It is an important milestone which confirm the commitment of Polaris in the Air separation Unit market scenario
